Laying the tracks of a moving train…

The problem is, there is no stopping or turning back.  Globalization is running like a loose train along tracks we have not built, in directions we have not charted.  It is creating deep patterns and structures that challenge and put to rest our old ways of relating, thinking and doing.  The world of work and economy as we know it has been redefined by prime movers, shaken to its very foundation while the players in this drama are struggling to make sense of it all, trying to grapple with the parts as they unfold.

We have conceived this 2nd Asia-Pacific Congress to deal with this dilemma of globalization.  Either we sit back and take the train ride to nowhere or we help lay down the tracks of this train as it moves along.

“Revisioning Globalization.” This is our clarion call in this 2nd Asia-Pacific Congress. Cooperatives, trade unions, grassroots initiatives and people’s economies are being called upon to put their acts, heads and hearts together, to rewrite the script as it happens and re-create the parts they have always dreamed of.

We invite concerned individuals and parties to take part in this Congress as a participant or paper presenter.  Either way, you will have an indispensable role to play as we summon our determination to rethink and re-envision globalization.
